Understand your AI Shopping analysis

Learn how Dageno analyzes AI Shopping recommendations, products, purchase channels, citations, and brand performance across shopping answers.

What is AI Shopping?

AI Shopping refers to shopping scenarios where AI recommends products directly based on a user’s purchase needs, shows purchase entry points, and, in some responses, cites external information sources.

In traditional search, users usually enter keywords, browse multiple pages, compare products, and choose where to buy.

In AI Shopping, users can describe a complete purchase need directly, such as budget, use case, or product preferences. AI then generates product recommendations based on that information and may also show purchase entry points or cited sources.

AI Shopping analysis shows related data from these shopping results, including:

  • Which products AI recommends.
  • Which competitor products are appearing.
  • Which channels purchase entry points lead to.
  • Which sites AI references when recommending products.

How this helps:

This module helps you understand whether your products appear in AI Shopping results and analyze how products, channels, and citation sources perform in AI responses.

Filter bar

The shopping module provides filters for region, platform, and category. These filters define the AI Shopping data you are currently viewing.

Before reviewing AI recommended products, sales channel rankings, and citation site rankings, we recommend narrowing the analysis scope with the filter bar. This helps avoid mixing data from different markets, platforms, and categories, so you can more accurately understand AI recommendations in a specific shopping scenario.

Region

Region is used to review AI Shopping performance across different markets. User needs, product prices, sales channels, and recommendation results may vary by region. With the region filter, you can identify which products are more likely to be recommended by AI in your target market.

Platform

Platform is used to review shopping results across different AI platforms. Different platforms may vary in product recommendations, purchase entry points, and citation sources. With the platform filter, you can see whether the same product category performs consistently across AI platforms.

Category

Category is used to filter by product type. With the category filter, you can focus only on product areas related to your business, such as cameras, accessories, bedding, or portable power stations, and avoid being distracted by unrelated categories.

In practice, we recommend selecting the target region and product category first, then switching platforms as needed. This makes it easier to understand which products AI recommends in a specific market and category, which channels purchase entry points lead to, and which citation sites are influencing product recommendations.

Page overview

The AI recommended products page shows which products AI recommends in shopping related responses and helps you compare their performance.

With this page, you can understand which products are appearing in AI Shopping results, which competitor products are receiving more recommendations, and which shopping scenarios these products are mainly associated with.

The page supports both card view and table view. Card view is better for quickly reviewing product images, names, prices, ratings, and basic information. Table view is better for comparing multiple products by data.

What to focus on

When reviewing AI recommended products, focus on three types of information.

What the product is

Use the product name, image, and brand to quickly identify the specific product recommended by AI and determine whether it belongs to your brand, a competitor, or another related brand.

What shopping scenario the product fits

Use category or topic to understand which shopping need the product is mainly associated with. For example, this could include outdoor power stations, home backup power, or portable power. This helps you understand what type of user need causes AI to recommend the product.

How the product performs

Price, rating, and citation count help you evaluate overall product performance.

  • Price shows the product’s price range.
  • Rating helps you understand user feedback.
  • Citation count shows how often the product appears in AI Shopping results. A higher citation count means the product is more often recommended or cited by AI and is usually worth opening in the detail page for further analysis.

Product detail page

Page overview

Click any product on the AI recommended products page to open its detail page.

The product detail page is used to analyze how a single product performs in AI Shopping results. It helps you see how often the product is recommended by AI, which prompts it is associated with, which competitor products appear with it, and which citation sites AI references when recommending it.

The top of the page shows basic product information, including product name, image, category, price, rating, review count, and a link to open the product page. Below that, the page shows core AI Shopping data for the product, such as citation count, topic count, prompt count, and review count.

What to focus on

Top prompts

Top prompts show the main prompts that trigger this product to appear. These prompts help you understand what purchase needs users express when AI recommends this product. A higher citation count means the prompt appears with this product more often.

Competing products

Competing products show other products that appear with the current product in similar AI Shopping scenarios. This section helps you understand which products the current product is mainly compared with and how competitors perform in related shopping scenarios.

Citation sites

Citation sites show the external sources AI often references when recommending this product. This section helps you understand which websites, video platforms, community content, or review pages are influencing AI recommendations for the product.

AI responses

AI responses show the specific AI answers where this product appeared. By reviewing these responses, you can see how AI describes the product, which purchase scenarios it appears in, and whether competitors or citation sources appear in the same answer.

How this helps:

The product detail page helps you understand why a product is recommended by AI, which prompts it mainly appears under, which competitor products matter most in related shopping scenarios, and which external sites are influencing AI recommendation results.

Sales channel ranking

Page overview

The sales channel ranking page shows which purchase channels AI mainly displays when recommending products in shopping related responses.

These channels may include brand websites, retailer websites, marketplace pages, or other product purchase entry points.

How this helps:

This page helps you understand where purchase entry points in AI Shopping results lead, which channels carry more products, and whether your products appear in important sales channels.

What to focus on

When reviewing sales channel rankings, focus on the following information.

Channel and merchant

Channel

Refers to the specific purchase entry point shown in AI Shopping results. It is usually displayed as a website domain, such as www.bestbuy.com. It answers the question: which purchase site does AI send users to?

Merchant

Refers to the retailer or seller behind the channel, such as Best Buy or Walmart. It answers the question: which merchant owns this purchase entry point?

Together, these two fields help you understand whether AI sends users mainly to brand websites, third party retailers, or marketplace platforms after recommending products.

Region

Region shows the market mainly associated with the channel. Sales channels, product prices, and buying habits can vary across regions, so we recommend reviewing channel performance together with your target market.

Products

Products show how many products are associated with the channel. A higher product count means the channel covers a wider product range and may play a more important role as a purchase entry point in AI Shopping results.

Citation count

Citation count shows how often the channel appears in AI Shopping results. A higher citation count means AI more often displays this channel as a product purchase entry point.

Average citation count

Average citation count shows the average citation level for each product under the channel. It helps you understand whether the channel has a high total citation count because it covers many products, or because each product has relatively stable AI recommendation performance.

In practice, we recommend prioritizing channels that rank high, cover many products, and have higher citation counts.

For example, if a third party channel appears frequently while your brand website or key sales channel ranks lower, AI Shopping purchase entry points may be flowing more to external platforms. You can then review product data, channel page content, and citation sites to decide whether to strengthen your owned channel or key retail channels.

Citation site ranking

Page overview

The citation site ranking page shows which external sites AI references in shopping related responses.

These sites may include YouTube, Reddit, LinkedIn, media review sites, retailer pages, marketplace pages, or brand websites.

With this page, you can understand which external content is influencing AI product recommendations.

What to focus on

Which sites are cited frequently by AI

Use citation count and Citation Rate together. Higher values mean the site is more often used by AI as an information source in shopping responses and is worth closer attention.

Which types of external content AI relies on

Use site type to understand this. Different site types represent different information sources, such as user discussions, company websites, retail platforms, or media review content. Site type helps you understand what kind of content AI is more likely to use in the current category.

Which topics and products these sites influence

Use topic count and product count together. More topics mean the site covers a wider range of shopping need scenarios. More products mean it may influence the appearance of more products in AI Shopping results.

How this helps you: Citation site ranking helps you identify which external sites are influencing product recommendation results, then evaluate whether those sites are related to your brand, competitors, or key products.
